Where are Office 2007 Web Components?

A while ago I wrote an article about how to build fancy charts with Microsoft Office Web Components (OWC). Surprisingly, the article generated a lot of interest, and I still get emails with questions how to push the envelope even more. OWC were shipped with Office 2000 (OWC 9), 2003 (OWC 10) and XP (OWC 11). In terms of building static charts, the three didn’t differ from one another, but I got curious why I didn’t see them in Office 2007. Read this blog post

James B. Stockdale on Enthusiasm

I’ve just finished a truly wonderful book, A Vietnam Experience: Ten Years of Reflection, by a remarkable man James B (that’s for Bond) Stockdale. To be more precise, it’s a collection of his speeches and essays. James Stockdale was a POW in Vietnam, where he spent eight years in a political prison, four of them in solitary confinement. Read this blog post

"Vista Sucks" Hits #1 at Live.com and #3 at Google

Wow! I’m under siege! When I published Vista Sucks, I was merely sharing my frustration with Vista. But then, all of a sudden, I was receiving 3-4 comments a day from people who I don’t expect to follow an ASP.NET blog, e.g. a Best Buy employee. I got curious what was going on. It turned out my post was #3 in Google and #1 in Live Search under “Vista sucks”! Ouch. Not exactly a cause for celebration.
