One Good Use of Silverlight

I talked about my frustration with Silverlight to a couple of people at the recent tri-state community mixer and heard the same thing several times: “I wish I could come up with a project to try Silverlight.” This goes to reinforce my opinion that Silverlight is being pitched to the wrong audience (developers) with the wrong message (“Rich media experience for the masses”). Read this blog post

Proliferation of Unhelpful Visuals

Is ours a fashion business? I think so. Every technology cycle brings its own fashion. PhotoShopped buttons with thick bevels in the late 90s; heavy, fat typefaces of the post-bubble; the now annoying jelly theme of MacOS X; Lightbox picture galleries and AJAX progress indicators of latter days. Read this blog post

Get a Will

A will is not something you’d brag about at a company picnic. A new car, a new iPhone, a new plasma TV—that’s fun stuff. A will isn’t a glamorous item. Who enjoys talking about death?
