Expression Web is Awesome

If there was an announcement of Microsoft’s Expression Web release, I somehow missed it. I was in for a pleasant surprise when I watched the 5 training videos. Very impressive! Beware, though—videos are narrated… (*yawn*) like a fairy tale… Zzzzzzz

On a related note, watch Robert Scoble’s interview Talking about Microsoft Expression Web with Microsoft folks. It’s interesting to hear Expression Web has such a strong story of adhering to web standards. Toward the end of the interview Wayne even gets apologetic about this recurrent theme. :)

Update: Like Rick and many others, I’m disappointed that Expression Web won’t be available on MSDN.

If only I could DOWNLOAD the videos, because they've been rewritten to point to some .wvx playlists...

And in Opera, I get "[DO NOT LEAVE IT IS NOT REAL]" after having to scroll for half the page to get to the content. WTF???

How am I supposed to believe that Expression is about web standards, if their training videos page doesn't render correctly in the most standards-compliant browser?

@M: Here's a workaround:

+ Right click one of the downloads and save the .wmv file to your desktop.

+ Open it in Notepad and copy either of the two URLs.

+ Run Windows Media Player and go to File | Open URL. Paste the URL and enjoy!

But I want to SAVE them :( If I'm going to wait an hour or two (slow connection) to have one movie loaded and buffered into WMP, then I damn well want to have it saved to HDD at the same time.

No, seriously, what's about the links that say "Download", but don't let you download at all? Argh.

I think I'll skip both the movies and Expression. Thanks anyway.

And you should write more often!

What I really like about Expression is full support for ASP.NET development, especially regarding third-party custom controls
