Bandwidth Leeching Stops Now: Take Two

Frank and Yaron were quick to point out I was hurting Bloglines and other online aggregator readers with my anti-leeching image handler. True, I forgot those services "leech" in a good way, too. Therefore I’m switching to a s***list of busted leechers only (aka blacklist), while everybody else will be unaffected.

Good lesson learned… This also got me thinking. At SxSW 2005 there was a lot of talk about all those services that have sprung up around blogging like mushrooms. You’ve got social network bookmarking services, all kinds of hybrid blog aggregators, feed "burners", XFN tags, blog ads, you name it. Me head hurts.

What seemed to be a plain idea—share knowledge, experiences, opinions—has morphed into something unmanageable. Even simple referrer sniffing leads to inadvertently pissing off legitimate readers. Geez.

If you observe some weirdness at a feed burner or something, please let me know.
