SxSW 2005

I’ve registered to attend South By Southwest Interactive, held in Austin, March 11-15. Judging from the list of speakers it should be very educational. I also look at it as an opportunity to finally put names with faces of those I know only virtually.

SxSW Interactive registration is run at $250 right now, which is quite a bargain compared to Microsoft’s gigs (I still don’t get how companies can afford to pay over $2500/employee to send them to Microsoft’s conferences).

One thing I want to say about the SxSW web site is that it’s convoluted, and management of your account online is weird.

Anyway, who else is coming?

I'm signed up and going this year. I went in 2003 and had a good time. Very informative.

I should introduce myself. I live in Tucson, AZ, work at a small outdoor store, and have been involved in web development for about 9 years. I just subscribed to your weblog a few weeks ago since I'm fascinated by the lack of any ASP.NET Web Standard hall-of-famers. That's obviously something that needs to change for the good of the web. I'm still pretty new to .NET, but I've got several years of classic ASP experience and I try to stay up on the standards movement.

Thanks for all your great articles and tips. Before I found this site, I thought .NET and standards were impossible. You've given me hope. Maybe I'll see you in Austin.

I should confess: there's about a dozen hall-of-famers in the database. I just can't get to actually wiring the Hall of Fame page. :) Now, that said---there's definitely hope.

Also, since SxSW fees are non-refundable we'd all better be there! :)

I just moved to Austin a few months ago, and unfortunately will not be at SXSW. However, if you need some help or info about getting around, eating, staying, etc. in Austin let me know!

Just to say "WOW!" I have only just stumbled onto this page and have to say, its the best resource I've ever come across! ASP.NET AND Web Standards - fantastic - finally a site that caters for BOTH! Keep up the excellent work!!!

I wholeheartedly agree with the SXSW web site. It was a less than impressive registration experience. Especially since I was registering multiple people at one time for our company.

Needless to say, I'm going as well, it should be a very good experience.
